Dr. Richard Knox's Backstory Part 1
Dr. Richard Knox's past before the events in the Amber Stone novel.

Hello Everyone!
I hope you are all doing well. In this email I’ll share Dr. Richard Knox’s backstory.
Dr. Richard Knox was born on the 2nd month of Neo, day 22, year 459 of the agreement N2/22/Y459. He had two Median parents, and they loved Richard very much. He was the only child, and his parents encouraged his imagination and love for science. Not much can be said about his childhood. He had a stable upbringing. He was always curious about how things worked. He would pull things apart, study each piece, and put them back together. The first time he dissected a frog he was twelve years old, and he had an epiphany. He wanted to study the science of life. Study how living organisms work.

But living in Occulus had its restrictions. He wasn’t free to express himself or reach the edge of limitations. He was restricted by his Median class and by the rules. There was only one time in his life when he dared to step out and go against the grain. At the beginning of his adult life, he was working at a small clinic, and he was a lab assistant. He made sure the labs were cleaned and that equipment was laid out, arranged, and put away. There was a peculiar illness spreading. The talk of the disease was secretive. Every time the illness was mentioned, a code name was used. Code name: Menace. The behavior of the illness was vicious. The illness caused neural degradation and although Richard was an assistant, he grew curious. He was aware of his place but his intrigue got the best of him, and he didn’t care.
During the day, he observed what the scientists did. He took note of their hypothesis and the results of their experiments. Richard was always the last to close and lock up the laboratory but one particular night, Richard decided to conduct some experiments of his own. He got carried away, and he was at the lab all night until the next day.

Early morning as the other scientists entered the lab, they were bewildered, even angry, at what they saw. They scolded Richard to the point they were hurling insults. Richard straightened, removed his goggles, and tossed his gloves on the ground. All the frustration he had bottled up he expressed in that moment. His voice was assertive and commanded the room. He went on to explain what he had discovered. He took healthy stem cells from the brain and used the cells to help regenerate damaged brain cells and reverse degradation. With continued regeneration, the organ will perform like a healthy brain is supposed to. Well, that was the hypothesis anyway. Richard struck a deal with the scientists that if the results were proven, he would be the head scientist in the lab and they would receive direction from him. They all laughed and mocked because they believed he couldn’t prove his theory. It took a month to run the experiment and the results were astonishing. All the scientists were in shock, envious even, but they respected Dr. Knox.
Eventually, they were ready for human trials. Dr. Knox was transferred to a lab at the Paradise Hospital campus to run the first human trials. The trials were successful, and with this specific disease, the damaged cells responded and replicated the behaviors of the healthy cells.
The regeneration of the diseased cells was so rapid that by the end it was a new brain. After further tests, there wasn’t any corruption of the organ and the cells showed longevity.
