Antonia(Tiny's) Backstory
Tiny's past before the events in the novel: Amber Stone and the Dead Doctor
Hello Everyone!
Happy new month, I hope you are all well and enjoying the warm weather. In this email are details of Tiny’s past. Enjoy the read and talk to you later!
Antonia (Tiny) Lambo was born on the first month of Roslyn, day 18, year 498 of the agreement R1/18/Y498. She lived in the Rat Village and grew up in an orphanage. She never knew her parents, and she was always an inquisitive child, always enjoyed exploring places that were forbidden.
The orphanage was the earliest memories of her childhood. It wasn’t in the best conditions, there was a lot of rationing of food, and an unsanitary environment. Antonia’s name back then was Deidre. She was called Tiny for as long as she could remember because she was the smallest out of all the orphans.
Nurses and doctors would come and visit the orphanage frequently. At one time, there was an outbreak of a virus, so many orphans were affected, and Tiny was one of the few that weren’t. She used to sneak out and watch how the nurses and doctors would work. She was so fascinated by how they had the power to heal. One day, a nurse discovered her. She felt scared; She explained to the nurse how she would like to learn what she was doing and how curious she was about her line of work. The nurse saw how innocent Tiny was and allowed her to watch her work.
Around that time, Tiny was experiencing her talent. She was aware of this because she saw other orphans experience their talent, and they would be gone for a few days, sometimes weeks, then come back and not use their talent again. The first time Tiny experienced herself disappear, she felt in control and felt more connected to her inner essence. She felt as though she understood herself. Anything beautiful she thought about, she could create. She was excited. She told the nurse Rose and showed her what she could do. At first, Rose was frightened and astonished all at once. She saw the joy on Tiny’s face. The joy of first discovering something special about oneself.
Rose realized that Tiny was in the wrong place. She deserved to be somewhere better. One day, Rose asked Tiny if there was anything she could do and do for the rest of her life. What would it be? Tiny said: “To help people like you do. Make people better,” Tiny said. Rose truly wanted to help the girl. She knew what she needed to do.
Three weeks later, Rose woke Deidre up in the middle of the night. She assured Tiny that everything was going to be alright, and her life was going to be changed for the better, and that later in life she will thank her. They both hopped into a truck and that was the last night she ever saw the orphanage or the Rat Village.
Tiny had her first eye procedure, where her silver eyes became blue. She couldn’t believe her new look. After a few days of healing, they coached Tiny of her new name and new life. They introduced Antonia Lambo to Lizzie, who had already transitioned to a new life as a Median and wanted a child. Tiny and Lizzie hit it off right away. Lizzie allowed Antonia to be herself, but as Tiny grew older, Lizzie told her how cautious she had to be, especially with her background. Tiny had been practicing manipulating her powers and had gotten good at controlling it. She reassured Lizzie not to worry. Evelyn Pierce, an Elite, selected the bright student Tiny to sponsor her entry into Marble school.
